Antique

Antique rugs are usually at least eighty years old. Pieces made between 1925 and the 1950s are considered semi antique. However when it comes to rugs antique implies more than just age. Antique rugs accompany a set of desirable characteristics of quality, design, technique, materials, and cultural authenticity. Antique rugs are considered to be investments because there is only a certain amount of authentic antique rugs. Because antique rugs are made with natural vegetable dyes they are known for their warmth, depth, and subtlety of colors. They are also hand spun yarns which gives them a special quality. The fundamentals of weaving antique rugs have been passed down for centuries. Many of the same materials and techniques are still used in the best rug producing countries. Some of the best regions for producing rugs are Turkey, China, Persia, India, Morocco, and Europe. Each antique rug is considered to be a unique piece that gives insight to where they come from.
